Celtics vs. Warriors Game 3: Live updates as Warriors bounce back in third quarter (again)

Celtics vs. Warriors

Frist quarter Jaylen Brown 17 scored points

Boston Celtics protector Jillian Brown responded when she fired a three-point shot against the Golden State Warriors during the first quarter of Game Three of the NBA.

FinalsThird quarter

2:53 - Marcus Smart scores the 3rd goal and gives the Celtics the lead again. The best the Celtics can hope to do right now is take on the storm (and maybe go up a bit at Curry's Pick-and-Rolls).

4:00 - Horford drops too low in the Pick-and-Roll again, hitting Curry 3 again. Command warriors. 4:45 - Otto Porter has seven points. The Celtics have only two teeters on top of them.

5:06 - El Horford has a tough fight with Curry in the pick and roll, and tonight is no exception. Curry made just one four-point game and Horford made a clear offense. The Warriors closed the gap again in the third quarter.

6:02 - Celtics have retained so far, but Green and Brown are starting to stand out.

9:00 - Real Tumble Train So Far: After reducing the lead of the Cree and Warriors to eight, Smart made three free throws, forcing a turnover. When the Warriors discussed turnover, Brown came out during the change and struck El Horford's touchdown pass. The lead is back at 13.

9:11 - Bad continuity: Two easy 3 points for Curry that reduced the lead to eight.

Plus: Four Mistakes for Curry, who tried to defend the Smart 3 Pointer where it shouldn't have been.

11:30 - A good start for the Celtics - Rob Williams beat Dreammond Green and get a set.

Second quarter

0:00 - Half: Celtics 58, Warriors 46

Extensive stretch by Marcus Smart at the end of the half, getting a pair of buckets to help stop the Warriors' offense which is like a storm on the horizon. Importantly, the Celtics had the answer to every run and mini-run that the Warriors collected in the first 24 minutes.
Still, the Celtics need to prepare for the barrage - the Warriors have dominated the third quarter, and after playing with three fouls in the first half, with Klay Thompson Cooking and Steph Curry, they have a really good stretch. Can use

Limiting turnover will be key. A play wrapped it up in the very second quarter - the Celtics almost turned the ball around late, but Brown Dow dropped it to the floor and pushed it away from the diving green. The Celtics held on, then found Brown for the Open 3 (he buried it) and returned to force a stop with a set defense.

Avoid turnover, and the Celtics will give themselves the best chance of winning.

2:27 - When the Warriors reduced their lead to seven, a steal from Horford caused a transition sting through Brown, who ran a short run in time to take the advantage back to 12. The Celtics desperately needed it.

4:27 - Stretch for the Celtics: The Warriors scored an instant 8-0, which included a pair of Tatum defensive decisions. Celtics can't afford turnover (eight turnovers, 14 points so far), and they can't afford lapses.

5:52 - The Warriors have a lot of defensive targets on the floor in their current line-up, including Steve Curry (who is quite good but trying to avoid his third foul), Jordan Poole and Kevin Looney. It won't work against the Celtics, who have a chance to go up to 19 after a timeout with Al Horford on the line.

8:02 - Rob Williams sits down with his other foul after a great job as rum protector, but he looks great as an adult alone. Significantly, he also bought some time on the bench for Horford - putting Daniel Thesis, who has fought tirelessly to defend the Warriors, on the bench.

8:49 - Good news for the Celtics: They have maintained a double-digit lead in the first few minutes of the second quarter and are advancing the ball beautifully, destroying the Warriors' effort in one zone.

The bad news: Clay Thompson is suddenly hot white.
